TSMaster Quick Start

TSMaster can access CAN hardware through different vendor-driver paths. The channel and CAN FD capabilities shown in the software depend on the selected vendor path, installed driver, hardware, application profile, and TSMaster release.

Prepare

  • Obtain TSMaster from the vendor download center.
  • Install and verify the driver for the device path you intend to use.
  • Record the hardware model, CANmeleon application and version when applicable, driver, OS, and TSMaster release.

Select the Hardware Vendor

If the expected channel is missing, open the hardware-vendor selection and enable the matching driver path:

  • choose PEAK for a PCAN device path;
  • choose Vector for a VN1610 device path.

Return to channel selection and choose the detected physical channel. A visible channel does not confirm that the intended CAN or CAN FD mode is available.

Configure Bit Timing

  1. Select classic CAN or CAN FD according to the detected channel and application profile.
  2. Enter the arbitration bit rate and timing used by the network.
  3. For CAN FD, enter the data-phase rate and timing separately and enable BRS only when the network requires it.
  4. Compare the complete timing values, including sample point and synchronization settings, rather than changing only the nominal rate.
  5. Start with a receive-only or controlled bench test before transmitting on an existing network.

Validate

  • Confirm the correct channel is open.
  • Receive known traffic before sending.
  • Send a controlled identifier and payload permitted on the test bus.
  • Inspect bus status and error counters.
  • Save the configuration with the test record.

Do not generalize a successful test to other TSMaster releases, drivers, application packages, operating systems, or hardware models without repeating the test and recording its scope.
