EcuBus-Pro Quick Start
This guide shows the basic PCAN/PCAN-FD device path in EcuBus-Pro. Menu names and available functions may change between releases, so compare the steps with the current EcuBus-Pro documentation.
Prepare the Environment
- Install EcuBus-Pro from its current release channel.
- Install and verify the driver required by the selected CAN interface.
- Connect the interface to a correctly wired and terminated test bus.
- Confirm the required classic CAN or CAN FD mode and bit timing before opening the channel.
Create a Project and Device
- Choose New → Create Empty Project.
- Open Hardware → Devices.
- Select the PEAK device type for a PCAN workflow.
- Bind the device entry to the detected physical channel.
- Enable CAN FD only when the hardware, application profile, driver, and EcuBus-Pro release all expose CAN FD for that channel.
- Enter the approved arbitration and data-phase timing for the test network, then add the device.
Add and Use an Interactor
- In the network area, add an interactor.
- Assign the configured device to it.
- Create a frame or import the project's database.
- Set the channel, identifier, frame type, length, payload, BRS setting when applicable, and trigger mode.
- Open the trace view before starting the device.
- Start the configured channel and send a controlled test frame.
Troubleshooting
- If no channel appears, recheck the vendor driver and operating-system detection.
- If the channel starts but traffic fails, compare the arbitration and data-phase timing with every node on the bus.
- If error-frame detail is insufficient, use a second monitoring tool only when the driver supports concurrent clients and the additional tool does not change the active bit timing.
- Stop transmission immediately if the test network shows persistent bus errors.
Document the EcuBus-Pro release, driver, hardware, CANmeleon application and version when applicable, selected channel, bit timing, tested functions, limitations, and date.
